This is a rare find and in fact, there are many people who can't imagine the impressive natural beauty and serenity of Voyageurs Retreat, let alone dream of having the opportunity to own a piece of this historic property on the lakes.

Voyageurs Retreat in Northern Minnesota is a natural wonderland. If you just can't resist the lure of the outdoors, you can lace up your hiking boots, strap on your cross-country skis, or slip into your bike clips and explore. Voyageurs Retreat features miles of private hiking and biking trails on the property, easy access to the Mesabi Trail, and a number of rocky outcroppings to challenge your climbing skills. If you're a water lover, Wynne and Sabin Lake are terrific for swimming, boating and waterskiing. If you enjoy golfing or skiing, the tees and slopes of Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort are just across the lake. Of course, you can always simply sit around the campfire or dangle your feet off a dock and watch the world go by. Voyageurs Retreat is a lifestyle you'll want to experience for yourself.

Natural Lakefront Living:

Wynne and Sabin Lake

In a region internationally known as a showcase for the mighty glaciers' handiwork, Wynne (pronounced "Wine") and Sabin Lake have a unique history of their own. The inlet of the Embarrass River feeds into the northern end of the lake chain and is known as the Height of Land Portage. As a primary voyageurs' portage connection between Rainy and Vermilion Lakes, Height of Land Portage is on the National Register of Historic Places. And while a favorite with visitors to Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort, the lakes retain a reputation for being spacious and un-crowded. Water recreation enthusiasts will have plenty of room to play in the un-congested waters, while modern- day voyageurs can venture north by canoe to the Height of Land Portage and relive a bygone era.

Living the Wild Life

Each year, the Arrowhead region hosts thousands of visitors from all over the world. Many flock to the area for the wildlife and birds. Many outdoor species-from the white-tailed deer to the pine marten-make their home in northeast Minnesota. At Voyageurs Retreat, you'll be among the lucky who might spot them right in your own backyard. To learn more about the region's wildlife and to see habitat maps, go to www.dnr.state.mn.us.

Mother Nature's Bounty

The entire northeast corner of Minnesota is blanketed by a coniferous forest of spruce, fir, pines and cedars, sprinkled liberally with birch, sugar maples and red oak, and dotted with wetlands. The entire region is decorated during the spring, summer and fall with an abundance of wildflowers. To take full advantage of this unusual natural beauty, private biking and hiking trails wind their way through all of Voyageurs Retreat. To learn more about the area's trees, plants and flowers and to see habitat maps, go to www.dnr.state.mn.us.

Connecting with Nature

Naterra Land was founded on a deep-routed passion for the land and is guided by our desire to help people create lasting connections to nature and each other. In keeping with this vision Voyageurs Retreat features more than seven miles of private hiking and biking trails winding through the property. The trails incorporate boardwalks and bridges, informative signs and such amenities as fire rings and comfortable places to sit and relax. The Mesabi Trail-an abandoned railroad track converted into 132 miles of hiking and biking trails-will cross into Voyageurs Retreat at the Narrows, loop through the property, and continue on to points east and north.
