Day in the Life of a Land Specialist
"Monday's are busy. I arrive at the office by 8:30 a.m. to turn in a purchase agreement I wrote over the weekend and hand in my weekly report. I sit down with my sales manager and review the finer points of my customer's purchase agreement. I feel great knowing that I have, once again, helped another customer find their dream property.
"I catch up on a few phone calls and return several emails before my weekly sales meeting, where we review our results from the prior week, discuss the current week's business, and end with some timely training tips.
"After lunch with a few colleagues, I am scheduled for "floor duty" starting at 2:00 p.m. That means I am responsible for serving all of the new customers coming in over the phone, our Internet sites, or people walking through our door. During a typical floor shift, I can expect to get from 3 to 6 good new leads. I cover two or three floor shifts each week. My second new customer of the day called just after 3:00 and we spent about a half hour talking about her land dreams, her wish list, and the various properties we had available that might work for her and her family. I knew that I had the perfect property for her, so we scheduled an appointment for the next afternoon to walk some land.
"Later, I made about a dozen follow-up calls to customers I have been working with in recent weeks. As I was making those calls, I scheduled another appointment for next Saturday morning. I received a few more calls from good new customers. Hopefully, a few more of these new customers will come up in the next week or two so I can help them too.
"Today was a long, but very productive day. I have a few long days each week, but also a lot of flexibility in my schedule. I never have to miss any of my kids' school plays or sporting events. Sometimes I don't even feel like I am "working" because I am with customers whose dream of owning land will become reality.
"Naterra Land is wonderful to work for. Everyone is treated fairly and we are compensated well for our efforts. With locations in some of the most beautiful areas in the country, I am able to live with my family and work in an environment that very few have the opportunity to enjoy."
